Venezuelan Women’s Basketball Team Ready to Compete in Fiba 2023 Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament

The Venezuelan women’s basketball team will debut this Thursday, November 9, against the Cañada team in the Fiba 2023 Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament, which will be played from November 9 to 12 at the Iván de Bedout Coliseum, in Medellín, in the that Canada, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Venezuela will participate.

Eduardo Pinto, national senior coach, announced this Tuesday the list of 12 players who will represent Venezuela.

The Venezuelan team is in Colombian soil one day before its debut, where it held its official practice to face the North American team.

The coach will have: Guadalupe Díaz, Mariana Durán, Waleska Pérez and Bárbara Pico, point guards; Jormelys Urbina and Daniela Wallen, escorts; Ivaney Márquez and Génesis Rivera, forwards; Aguehil Fajardo and Marielka Gárate, power forward; and Nohelia Chile and Yosimar Corrales, pivot.

Technical staff; Eduardo Pinto, technician; José Gallardo and Luz Vargas, technical assistants; Mara Torres, physical trainer; Yalismer Montes de Oca, physiotherapist; Dilia Nederr, doctor; Julio Cabrera, prop man; and Hugo Mora, team manager.

Canada vs Venezuela – 6.30 pm (Venezuela time) – Thursday, November 9.

Venezuela vs Puerto Rico – 6.30 pm (Venezuela time) – Friday, November 10.

Colombia vs Venezuela – 7.30 pm (Venezuela time) – Sunday, November 12.

The two best teams in the tournament will qualify for the 2024 Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournaments.
