Venezuelan Outfielder Jackson Chourio in Talks for Record-Breaking Rookie Contract with Milwaukee Brewers

Jackson Chourio has not yet made his major league debut with the Milwaukee Brewers and can already set a record for a rookie. The Venezuelan outfielder, considered one of the best prospects in baseball, is already in talks for a contract renewal.

According to a report by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the team is already talking to the player about a record deal for a rookie. At 19 years old, the Venezuelan is considered the most important rookie in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.

When he signed the pro, Chourio received a $1.9 million signing bonus and is now expected to receive a big deal already. A case similar to what happened with Julio Rodríguez, although it happened with the Dominican after his first year in the MLB.

Chourio has been Milwaukee’s minor league Player of the Year for the last two seasons and is coming off a great performance in his debut with the Águilas del Zulia in the LVBP, although the leave from his organization was only a few weeks long.

In 2023 in two categories he hit .283, with 22 home runs and 91 RBIs. Many compare him to his compatriot Ronald Acuña Jr. due to his ability to stand out in different statistical departments.
