Viking Football had 10 players named to the North Star Athletic Association All-Conference Teams announced Monday by the conference office.
Riley Gerhardt, Georgie Mageo, Jahidi West and Paco Baltazar were all named to the First Team Defense, while Jacob Romero was named First Team Offense.
Justice Bice and Troy Dietz received Second Team Offense honors, while Georgia Mageo, Micah Olson and Emanuel Spiyee were named Second Team Defense.
A senior defensive lineman, Gerhardt was named First Team All-Conference for the third straight season after tallying 123 total tackles, 16.5 TFL and 12 sacks this season. His 12.3 tackles per game ranked second in the NAIA and he also forced four fumbles.
West, a senior linebacker, also earned his third straight All-Conference selection after totaling 103 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions this season.
This was the first All-Conference selection for Romero, a standout junior on the offensive line this season. It was also the first All-Conference selection for Baltazar and Georgie Mageo. A senior safety, Baltazar had a career-high 56 tackles this season. Mageo, a junior on the defensive line, finished with 37 tackles, eight TFL and three sacks.
It was the fourth All-Conference selection for Troy Dietz, a senior offense lineman, and the third honor for Justice Bice, a senior running back. Sophomore Georgia Mageo earned his first All-Conference honor as a defensive lineman on the 2nd Team. Defensive back Micah Olson (junior) and Emanuel Spiyee (freshman) both also picked up their first All-Conference selections as 2nd Team.
Kade Queen (offensive line), Taylor Jones (offensive line), Austin Young (receiver) and Trent Finney (tight end) received Honorable Mention All-Conference, and quarterback Avery Thorsgard was named VCSU’s Champions of Character representative.
Valley City State finished the 2023 season with a 7-3 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the North Star Athletic Association.
