After the amicable separation from Urs Fischer (57, was in office from 2018 to 2023), Union is looking for a new head coach.
According to BILD information, one candidate to succeed Fischer is ex-Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder (51). There are also whispers around Berliners about world star Raúl (46)!
That would be a real blast…

Raúl was recently an issue at Schalke when the Royal Blues were looking for a successor to Thomas Reis (49). However, the former Schalke player (2010 to 2012) canceled. Karel Geraerts (41) took over the position.

Alfred Schreuder is said to be a candidate at Union Berlin
A more concrete lead should lead to Schreuder. The ex-Hoffenheim coach (2019 to 2020) would exactly match the profile you are looking for as he has already gained Bundesliga experience and can deal with stars.

Schreuder was assistant coach at Hoffenheim from 2015 to 2018, assisting Julian Nagelsmann (36). He was then assistant coach under Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam (2018 to 2019) before becoming head coach at Hoffenheim (2019 to 2020). He was then assistant coach at FC Barcelona under Ronald Koeman from 2020 to 2021, before acting as head coach at FC Brugge (January to June 2022) and Ajax (July 2022 to January 2023).
His last stop was Al-Ain FC (July to November 2023) in the United Arab Emirates. He was fired there two weeks ago despite 13 wins in 15 games. The reason: disagreements between Schreuder and the employees regarding his methods and the work processes in the club.
The name of Oliver Glasner (49) should also continue to play a role for the Iron Men. There had recently been Union rumors about the ex-Frankfurt coach.
One thing is clear: the interim coach duo of Marco Grote (51) and Marie-Louise Eta (32) will be in the Union game against Augsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky or on bild.de in the live ticker) on the sidelines.
Then things continue in quick succession with the Champions League game in Braga (Wednesday, 9 p.m.) and the away game at Bayern (Saturday, December 2nd, 3:30 p.m.). Union flies directly from Braga to Munich.
It is possible that Grote and Eta will still look after the team in these two games because there would be very little time for a new coach to get to know the team between the games.
After the game at Bayern, Union has a week off before continuing with the Bundesliga game against Gladbach (December 9th, 3:30 p.m.).
Maybe then with a new trainer…
