Union Berlin has found a successor for the former successful coach Urs Fischer (57)! Nenad Bjelica (52) will take over the position of trainer for the Köpenickers. The club officially announced this on Sunday.

As Union also announced, Marie-Louise Eta (32) will remain the men’s assistant coach, at least until Sebastian Bönig (42/time out for personal reasons) returns.

Nenad who? The Croatian is actually no stranger to German football! From 2001 to 2004 he played for 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Most recently, Bjelica was coach of Trabzonspor in Turkey from April to October. In eight games in the SüperLig, Bjelica had four wins and four defeats.
Now he’s taking a job in Köpenick. Until recently, rumors persisted around the Alte Försterei that none other than world star Raúl (47) could become the new coach of the Iron Men. Nothing came of it. Instead of the former top striker, the Union bosses opted for the unknown solution.
Bjelica is supposed to lead the crashed Champions League club from 17th place in the Bundesliga to stay in the league.
