Tulum’s “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” airport will be international – El Sol de México

The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) published a draft Agreement through which it declares and enables the Felipe Carrillo Puerto airport, in Tulum, as international.

The document, published in the National Commission for Regulatory Improvement (Conamer) a few days before the work is inaugurated, indicates that the aerodrome will have the appropriate infrastructure to receive national and international flights.

“It is declared and enabled as an international aerodrome for the entry and exit to the country of Mexican and foreign aircraft, both for public air service, as well as air services to third parties and aircraft operations for private use, for national and international transportation, regular and non-regular. regularly, to the aerodrome called ‘Felipe Carrillo Puerto’ Tulum International Airport,” he says.

The agreement establishes that said terminal will be international the day after the document is published in the Official Gazette of the Federation and that the SICT, through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), must notify the Organization of International Civil Aviation.

The Tulum International Airport is scheduled to be inaugurated on December 1, in accordance with the wishes of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and will be operated by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), through the Grupo Aeroportuario, Ferroviario, de Olmeca-MayaMexica Auxiliary and Related Services, which will be in charge of 11 air terminals, three tourist parks, six archaeological zones, a museum and the Mayan Train.

According to the SICT project, the new airport will have a runway 3,700 meters long and 45 meters wide.
