“TTT Rīga” team beat “Liepāja”/LSSS team in the Baltic Women’s Basketball League (BSBL) match in Riga on Sunday, reports LETA.
In the match held in Oskar Kalpak’s Riga People’s Hairdressing Elementary School hall, the girls from Riga were superior with the result 75:48 (22:14, 24:9, 11:12, 18:13).
For the winners, Gabija Meshkonite scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds, Luise Sila collected 12+10, and Margo Clavo scored ten points. Enija Kīvīte had 11 points for the visitors, Marta Kaupmane scored ten, while Sabīne Lipe scored eight points and had eight steals.
“TTT Rīga” basketball players have won all five games and are the vice-leaders of the tournament, while the Liepāja players are in eighth place with three successes in eight matches.
Latvia is represented in BSBL by “TTT Rīga”, “Rīga Stradiņa University” (RSU), “Liepāja”/LSSS, “Daugavpils University” (DU), “Rīga Juniores”/LU, “Jūrmala” and “TTT Juniores”, while Lithuania – “Kibirkštis” from Vilnius, “Neptūnas” from Klaipeda, “Aistes” from Kaunas, LCC from Klaipeda, “Šiauliai-Vilmers” and newcomer “Panevezys”.
Two rounds are played in the main tournament. The winner of the first place qualifies for the tournament of the final four, while the owners of the 2nd-7th place in the quarter-finals will determine three more “Final 4” participants in a series of two games.
At the end of the season, the championship of the Latvian Women’s Basketball League will also be played, where the Latvian champions will be determined.
In the previous season, “TTT Rīga” became the champion team of BSBL, which beat Vilnius “Kibirkštis” team 69:68 in the final, but in the Latvian championship, the girls from Riga were superior to the RSU basketball players in the final series up to two victories with 2-0.
