Ties broken by number of penalties, then assists
Opposed to Clermont (8th) and Nice (9th), the Parisian and the Lyonnais will undoubtedly have this last trophy in mind to collect. In the crazy event where Mbappé scores 4 penalties and Lacazette 5 “classic” goals, resetting the counters to zero, the second criterion is the number of assists. Here again, the Parisian (6) dominates the Lyonnais (5). Lacazette would then have to deliver, in addition, an assist for the third criterion to give him the advantage: the number of matches during which his goals have been scored (22 for the Lyonnais currently, 19 for Mbappé).
Already a tie for Mbappé in 2020
It would not be the first time that Mbappé, who has the opportunity to win this championship top scorer trophy for the 5th year in a row, finishes tied with a competitor. In 2019-2020, a season shortened by Covid, the Bondynois and the Monegasque Wissam Ben Yedder each scored 18 goals, and it was already in the number of penalties (3 to 0) that Mbappé had predominated.
