The 2023 U-17 World Cup played its final group stage match today. Indonesia’s fate will be determined in the New Zealand vs Mexico and Burkina Faso vs South Korea matches.

Saturday (18/11) will be the last day for the group phase matches of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Group E and Group F will play.

These matches are Germany vs Venezuela and New Zealand vs Mexico at 16.00 WIB. At 19.00 WIB there will be Burkina Faso vs South Korea and USA vs France.

So far, 15 teams have qualified for the last 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Including the United States, Germany, Venezuela and France who will play later and whatever the result, they will still qualify.

The remaining slot for the best third place mini standings will be contested by Mexico, South Korea, Indonesia and New Zealand!

In the mini standings for the best third place, Iran, Japan and Uzbekistan have qualified, respectively occupying first to third place. The final limit is in fourth place, temporarily occupied by the U-17 Indonesian National Team with two points.

Below him are Mexico (one point) and South Korea (zero points). Garuda Muda must hope that Mexico and South Korea each match ends in a 0-0 draw.

If that happens, the final position will be that Indonesia remains in fourth place with two points, Mexico below it with two points, and South Korea with one point.

Indonesia has the right to advance to the next round because it won fair play points, aka fewer card penalties than Mexico.

If Mexico wins, Indonesia’s chances are closed. Likewise if South Korea wins.

In fact, another scheme that would be surprising is if New Zealand can win over Mexico and South Korea loses or draws. So, New Zealand can qualify with the final three points.
