After a week of competitions, the 30th edition of the Binational Games of Araucania ended with an outstanding participation of the teams from Tierra del Fuego.

In the general summary, the province of Tierra del Fuego accumulated 100 points as a result of the performance of all disciplines.

Regarding the individual disciplines, 8 gold medals were achieved thanks to the brilliant achievements in athletics and judo. There are also three silver medals for athletics and four bronze medals and one silver medal for judo.

This Friday the men’s basketball team faced its last rival in these Araucanía Binational Games. The Fuegians could not face the Los Lagos Region. They finally obtained 8th place in the competition.

Also this Friday the action for the Fuegian soccer team ended. The boys of Daniel Celman and Fausto Moreno closed the tournament with joy, beating the Chilean representative of Los Rios by 4 to 1 and decorating a positive performance despite the two initial defeats. The goals were scored by Joaquin Cahisa, on three occasions, and by Gonzalo Cataldo. With this result, the Tierra del Fuego team finished its participation in ninth place.

On the other hand, in women’s soccer, Tierra del Fuego beat Aysén 4-0 with a hat trick from Maia Gatica and the remaining one from Valentina Grandis, in a strong performance. With the favorable result, the girls finished their performance in eleventh place in the competition.

Meanwhile, the last cycling test was carried out in the city of Viedma. The convening test turned out to be the so-called “Street Circuit” in which the women competed first, who had to complete 7 turns of the circuit (30 km). Despite the effort, the Fueguinas could not maintain the rhythm of the toes and were lapped. Later it was the turn of the men who, in their case, made a total of 15 turns (60 km). With experienced riders, the strategy approach was sustained from beginning to end, starting with a strong pace which caused a quick cut of the peloton, who endured and demonstrated strength for more than 12 laps with the leading peloton was Lucas Torres, then after such a surrender would be expired.

The 30th edition of the Araucanía Binational Games ended with a closing ceremony held in the gymnasium of the Don Bosco school in Bariloche.

The Undersecretary of Sports Gabriel Coto represented the Fuegian delegation that witnessed the presentation of the next edition, to be held in the Chilean region of Aysén.

The Secretary of Sports and Youth, Carlos Turdó, expressed as a review of these games that “I feel very happy with how much the boys and girls have progressed, they have shown a lot of character in the development of the competition, they have shown a lot of determination. heart. The work throughout the year in their clubs and with the national team, with their technicians and physical work, could be evident. Regarding the results, Turdó stressed that “I am very satisfied with ninth place. It is the best position obtained by our province so far, with a great contribution from Judo and athletics as we are accustomed to, but also with good positions that add important points in the other disciplines that have made this new position possible.”

The official also highlighted the behavior, seriousness and responsibility of our young people: “it is a great pride that they represent us.”
