The Tierra del Fuego delegation will travel this weekend to the province of Rio Negro to participate in the XXX edition of the Araucanía Binational Games that will take place in five venues from November 13 to 17.

With the organization of the Sports and Youth Secretariat of the provincial Government, Fuegian athletes will participate in the disciplines of football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, swimming, cycling and judo, all with teams in both branches.

For the third time, Río Negro will host the contest that annually brings together more than two thousand athletes from Patagonia and the regions of southern Chile in alternative venues in Chile and Argentina.

The venues for this occasion will be: Bariloche: Judo (women’s and men’s), volleyball (women’s and men’s) and women’s soccer. Viedma: Cycling (women’s and men’s), and basketball (women’s and men’s), Cipolletti: men’s soccer, Neuquén for athletics, and Choele Choel for Swimming.

Of its 30 appearances at the Araucanía Binational Games, Río Negro leads the medal table with 13 wins, above Bío Bío (5) and La Pampa (5). It should be noted that he won the three-time championship twice (2002, 2003 and 2004) and (2009, 2010 and 2011).

The competition will begin next Monday, November 13, but Sunday will be the time for accreditations, while the opening ceremony will take place on the same Monday at the different venues. The official activity will culminate on Friday, November 17 with the finals in the respective disciplines.

The Fuegians will leave by air for the province of Rio Negro.

It is worth remembering that last year, the Araucanía Binational Games took place in the Chilean region of Los Lagos, and the winner of the general classification was Río Negro, while second was Neuquén and La Pampa finished third, in an edition where The Fuegians managed to get nine medals, with a good performance from Athletics and Judo.
