Three Algerian Judokas Aim for Olympic Qualification at Perth Grand Prix

Three Algerian judokas will take part in the Perth Grand Prix (Australia) scheduled for November 10 to 11, with the aim of collecting new points in anticipation of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, we learned on Sunday , with the Algerian Judo Federation (FAJ).

The judokas concerned are: Belkadi Amina (- 63 kg), Driss Messaoud Redouane (- 73 kg), Mustapha Yasser Bouamrane (-100 kg), “who have practically won the Olympic ticket, and who have an interesting Olympic ranking” , according to the national technical director of the federal body, Abdennour Grioua. “The judokas Belkadi, Redouane and Bouamrane will take part in the Perth GP to obtain additional points (a gold medal is equivalent to 700 points) in order to ensure the desired objective of being present at the Paris Olympic festival, “next summer,” the DTN of the FAJ told APS.

According to Grioua, the “Perth GP constitutes one of the important stages included in the program of the national teams, while there still remain between 8 and 10 tournaments, which could give additional points for qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The Mongolian tournament scheduled for next June will be the last competition for our judokas in search of additional points for Olympic qualification.” After Australia, the Algerian delegation will travel to the capital of Japan (Tokyo) to complete a preparatory course from November 13 to 28, followed by participation in the international Grand Prix in Tokyo on December 2 and 3.

The technical staff of the Algerian selection is made up of Meziane Dahmane (men) and Mohamed Kara Seddari (women). 361 judokas including 157 (women) from 69 countries will be present at the Australian meeting.
