Champions League, Round of 16: These teams have already qualified for the knockout phase

Ten of the 16 round of 16 tickets have already been taken. Three of the teams that have already qualified are Bundesliga teams: FC Bayern Munich has played a flawless tournament so far and has gained a huge lead of eight points in Group A over their pursuers Galatasaray Istanbul and FC Copenhagen. Thomas Tuchel’s team is already assured of first place.

The second German round of 16 team is RB Leipzig. The Red Bulls have nine points after five games and are only beaten by defending champions Manchester City (15 points). Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys Bern are far behind. Borussia Dortmund have also moved on to the next round since their 3-1 win against AC Milan and only need one point to win the group.

Four clubs from the Spanish Primera Division will definitely be in the next round. With record winners Real Madrid, it is no surprise that they were able to dominate Group C with their opponents SSC Napoli, Sporting Braga and Union Berlin, although many probably did not expect Real Sociedad’s strong performances in advance. The Basques lead Group D on equal points ahead of last season’s finalists Inter Milan, who also qualified for the round of 16. In this case, all that remains to be clarified is who will emerge from the preliminary round first and second. Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona complete the Spanish quartet. They will also be accompanied by Lazio Rome into the round of 16, among others.
