The weather forecast for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Las Vegas

The Formula 1 circus will descend in half a week in Las Vegas, the largest city in the American state of Nevada, located in the Mojave Desert. On Saturday, November 18, the first Grand Prix of Las Vegas will be held there on a brand new street circuit. There were already concerns about the cold, but now the teams may also have to deal with rain.

Las Vegas, the Entertainment Capital of the World, is of course known for its casinos, such as the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and the MGM Grand. These are located on The Strip. In the not too distant future, Formula 1 cars will be racing here at speeds of 340 kilometers per hour. At 6,201 kilometers, the Las Vegas Strip Circuit is one of the longest tracks on the Formula 1 calendar. They will go via Rochelle Avenue Intersection over Koval Lane. They then go around the Sphere via Westchester Drive. Along Sands Avenue, the drivers arrive at The Strip for a straight stretch of 1.7 kilometers. They then return via Harmon Avenue to the start-finish section after 17 turns.

Chance of rain

The Grand Prix of Las Vegas starts on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:30 PM local time (Thursday, November 16 at 4:30 AM Dutch time) with an extensive opening ceremony. The first session is Free Training 1 on Thursday at 8:30 PM local time (Friday, November 17 at 5:30 AM Dutch time). Free Training 2 will be held on the night of Friday at 00:00 local time (09:00 Dutch time). AccuWeather expects a 66% chance of precipitation, but mainly in the afternoon. The temperature drops to 11°C in the evening.

The two sessions that follow are scheduled for the same time with Free Training 3 on Friday at 8:30 PM local time (Saturday, November 18, 5:30 AM Dutch time) and qualifying on Saturday at 12:00 AM local time (9:00 AM). 00:00 Dutch time). Rain is also forecast on that day with a 61% chance. It will be even colder at 8°C.

The Grand Prix starts on Saturday at 10:00 PM local time. We Dutch will have to get up early. That’s here on a Sunday morning at 7:00 am. The chance of rain drops to 25% with still cold temperatures of 8°C at night.
