Get out of the mouse! The Veolia Towers have finally eliminated development player Terrell Gomez (25/USA). The smallest professional (1.73 meters) in the EasyCredit Basketball Bundesliga surprisingly didn’t fly to the EuroCup game at Besiktas Istanbul (78:90) on Tuesday. On Thursday, the Hamburg team officially announced that Gomez was no longer part of the team.
“Terrell has already proven his qualities elsewhere,” said sports director Marvin Willoughby (45) in the statement. “Ultimately, we had to realize that the adaptation to the level in the Bundesliga and EuroCup is not working as desired has.”

Gomez moved from French second division champions Saint-Quentin in the summer. The expectations for the new guy were high. Coach Benka Barloschky (35) saw him as his new thinker and leader. “After the game in Badalona we knew it wasn’t a good fit, not for both sides,” says Barloschky. “That’s why we decided to take this step, to create clarity and also give clarity to the group.”
Consequence: Gomez is exempt from training and games. As soon as he has found a new club, the contract will be terminated. Towers boss Willoughby has been exploring the market for several weeks. Barloschky: “We are on the market and definitely want to strengthen ourselves. But not with a quick shot. We are looking for the right player who fits.
