The Spanish Badminton Quarry: Highlighting the U11 and U19 Championships in Cartagena

The Spanish badminton quarry has a double date marked on the calendar… and it is here. These are the Spanish Sub11 and Sub19 Championships, which from this Friday pit the best athletes from both categories against each other in Cartagena.

This national championship is the highlight of an intense week of international competitions, since at the participation of Carolina Marín and Clara Azurmendi in China and that of Pablo Abián and Kike Peñalver in Bahrain, the presence of 22 U17 athletes in the Portugal Open is added. And all this, immediately after having completed ten consecutive days of activity in Ibiza, headquarters of the Spanish U17 Championshiphe Iberdrola Spanish International and the Spanish International Sub15 y Sub17tournaments that have left a rain of medals for the Spanish volantistas, especially in doubles tests.

The Wssell Central Pavilion in Guimbarda becomes the epicenter of national badminton by bringing together more than 180 athletes from 55 clubs throughout the country. It is worth remembering that the main rackets of the Junior and Sub11 rankings are not missing from the event.

What’s more, these championships serve to confirm the good health of Spanish badminton from an early age and also to appreciate the evolution of the most outstanding Juniors on the national scene, such as the recent junior world champions Ana Novoa, Nikol Carulla, Cristina Teruel, Álvaro Morán , Basilio Porto or Daniel Franco, among many others, in the phase prior to making the leap to the senior category.

On the opening day, more than 130 games will be played, so excitement is guaranteed.
