The Resurgence of Novak Djokovic: From Australian Open Disqualification to Record-Breaking Wins

Since the 2022 Australian Open saga which led to his expulsion from the territory due to his unvaccinated status, Novak Djokovic has won four of the six Grand Slam tournaments in which he participated, bringing his total to 24 titles: a record (Nadal being at 22).

Before the start of the Masters in Turin (November 12 to 19), the consultant EurosportAlex Corretja, talks about the importance of this moment for the Serbian.

“I think what happened to him in Australia led him to a lot of introspection. understood who he was. He went deep into his soul, his body, his spirit. From then on, he understood and managed things better. Djokovic also knows which players were on his side, which were not. It’s as if this awakened a beast inside him, he now controls all his emotions much better than beforefirst declared the former double finalist at Roland-Garros before continuing.

I see now that even the players or the public appreciate him even more than before because he is authentic, he is natural, he is himself, and he does not try to say things to make everyone happy. He sticks to his principles. You may like them or not, but he’s definitely someone who will fight for whatever he thinks he has to do. And this is what he does with the association he created for the players (the PTPA) or with the way he acts on the field. So I think we’re probably seeing the best version of Novak Djokovic overall.”
