The NBA Trade Deadline is still a long way off but rumor season is already here. Among the players concerned: French Pistons Killian Hayes.
The season hadn’t started so badly for Kiki. Starting alongside Cade Cunningham, he distinguished himself in a few matches at the beginning of November, notably with two performances of more than 20 points. But since then, everything has been much more complicated for the blue-white-red leader.
Between shoulder injury, accumulating defeats and return to a replacement role, Killian Hayes is going through a difficult period with the Pistons. And unsurprisingly the rumors are picking up again.

As a reminder, Hayes will become a free agent in the summer of 2024, he who is currently in the last year of his rookie contract. If the Pistons no longer believe in his future and prefer to bet on Jaden Ivey as a backcourt colleague to Cunningham, it would make sense to transfer Killian before the February trade deadline. However, Detroit can still maintain control over the matter, since the Michigan franchise can make the Frenchman a restrictive free agent by offering him a qualifying offer next offseason.
It’s difficult today to gauge the value of Killian Hayes on the transfer market. His defense and his qualities as a playmaker may interest people, especially since he remains a young player (22 years old) who can still progress. But his big limitations in shooting and scoring can cool off any team potentially interested in his services.
