The NBA Returns to Regular Phase with Surprises, Good Performances, and Disappointments

With the NBA Cup already parked until early morning of December 5the league returned to the regular phase tonight, with seven games that have left surprises, good performances and some that were below expectations. Beatdown by Lakers, New Orleans uncovers itself, the Nuggets get fueled again, the Grizzlies win… We review the most interesting of the day.

Return of stars. Leaving aside the results, the night featured the return to the courts of players of the caliber of CJ McCollum (New Orleans Pelicans) and Jamal Murray, Jokic’s top teammate in Denver.

The first one went to 20 points. He had not played since November 4 due to a problem with a lung which started that same day. Murray, for his part, was also injured on the 4th of this month. After 11 games out, he returned last night in the victory against the Rockets and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

The Lakers sweep Detroit. Against some Pistons who don’t know where they are going, the gold and purple ones brought out their best version. Also classified for the quarterfinals of the Cup, Ham’s men seem to find regularity. 25 points and 8 rebounds from an everlasting LeBron and Davis with 28 points, 16 rebounds and 3 blocks in a monstrous display.

The Pelicans are here. New Orleans is starting to get going, and the return of McCollum will give a plus to what we have seen in recent weeks. Victory in Philadelphia against the Sixers without Embiid, in which they left good feelings. 33 from Zion, more leader than ever. On the local side, 33 also from a very lonely Maxey last night.

A joy for Memphis. The Grizzlies beat Utah and achieved their fourth victory of the season (4-13), in a (finally) good game by Jaren Jackson Jr, who finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 blocks. Aldama, from the bench, scored 11 points.

These are the expected Clippers. Comfortable victory for the Angelenos in Sacramento (117-131), with a sensational game from their starting quintet. All in double digits. Led by Kawhi Leonard (34 points), both George (19), Zubac (14), Mann (18) and Harden (26), gave a performance in the Californian capital.

Nobody stops the Magic. In Orlando they continue to celebrate. Eight consecutive victories for those from Florida. With a record of 13-5, they remain at the top of the East, only behind the intractable Celtics. Last night, in the victory against Wizards (139-120), the group’s strength was once again confirmed. 31 points from Banchero, 25 from Cole Anthony and 22 from Suggs to show that they are going beyond their stars. The best streak in the NBA.

Another exhibition from Jokic. One more. In Murray’s return, the Serbian was once again decisive on the court against the Rockets (134-124) who fought but found no way to stop him. He finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists.

The Nuggets win (134-124) in the return of Jamal Murray

It wasn’t Booker’s night. The Suns lost in Toronto (112-105) and, despite Durant’s display (30 points), Nurkic’s work (19+16), the focus was on Devin Booker who finished with 8 points. A night to forget.

Raptors 112 – 105 Suns

Grizzlies 105 – 91 Jazz
