The Latvian football team loses to Poland in the test match

It has already been reported that on Saturday, the Latvian national team lost 0:2 to Croatia in the last game of the 2024 European Championship qualification tournament, took the last place among the five teams in the group with three points and did not qualify for the final tournament.

The Polish team also did not qualify for the final tournament, taking third place in Group E behind Albania and the Czech Republic.

After regaining independence, Latvia and Poland have met seven times, winning only once – in the qualifying tournament of the European Masters in Warsaw at the end of 2002 and later reaching the final tournament of the European Championship.

In 2019, the two national teams met twice in the qualification matches of the European Championship, Latvia losing 0:2 away and 0:3 at home. Four out of five goals, including all in Riga, were scored by Roberts Lewandovskis.

The Polish national team is in 31st place in the FIFA ranking, while the Latvian national team is in 132nd position.
