We now know the date of the highly anticipated fight to unify the world heavyweight boxing belts between the British Tyson Fury and the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk: it will be February 17, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the promoters announced THURSDAY.
“I was ready to fight on the 23rd, but since Fury was injured in his last fight, with a knockdown, it is likely that the date will be postponed until next year,” Usyk explained to the agency Reuters in early November.
Fury is the WBC heavyweight champion and Usyk holds the WBA, IBF and WBO belts. The winner of the fight will be the first unified heavyweight champion of the world since Lennox Lewis in 1999 and 2000.
