On Monday October 23, 2023, the Basse Vallée du Lot Judo club in Prayssac held its very last general meeting. It was with great emotion that Isabelle David thanked everyone present for this last general meeting in front of 16 people. Present were members of the Judo Club Basse Vallée du Lot, Christophe Soudé (deputy and head of sports associations), Nathalie Womack (advisor and head of Prayssac associations), members of Cahors Judo including Sandrine Latière president, Lilian Béal judo teacher and technical director, 2 members of the office Georges Rascouailles and Carlos Esteves, Serge Bladinières mayor of Pescadoires, Patrice Sans (president of the Lot judo committee, 6th dan) and his wife.

The Prayssac Judo club ceases its activities

In September 2022, the Club participated in the Prayssac associations forum, which led them to new registrations, then to the champions’ route in December at the Cahors sports center with several children and adults, organized by the committee departmental judo of the Lot. All participants were delighted to see champions in real life.

In June, the belts were awarded to the judokas; Eric, teacher, and Bruno participated in the sports discovery week at Prayssac primary school.

On June 22, 2023, at an extraordinary general meeting, it was proposed that the Judo Club Basse Vallée du Lot be discontinued and that the activity be resumed by Cahors Judo. For personal reasons, Isabelle wanted to stop being president of the Judo Club Basse Vallée du Lot after 25 years of good and loyal service. Having found no one motivated to continue the adventure… After discussions with the office, Isabelle proposed to Cahors Judo the resumption of the judo activity so that it remains in Prayssac, keeping Eric Le Cru as trainer. Proposals which they accepted with pleasure after discussion with their office.

The association was therefore dissolved on October 23 with distribution of the bank balance and donation of all equipment to Cahors Judo.

A club born in 1977

The Prayssac judo club was created on April 4, 1977. Training on straw mats was practiced in the village hall, under the aegis of the rural center. Only 4 students made up the club, Jean-Paul and Monique Brouard, Jean-Pierre Esnol and Bruno David (16 years old at the time), we had to set up and take down the tatami mats before and after each lesson. The club then moved into the mezzanine of the village hall and the number of members increased rapidly. The municipality then decided to make an extension to the gymnasium and the club moved there in 1980. But from the start the 60 m² of tatami mats were insufficient (currently the Charleston room). Thanks to Michel Lolmède, the current dojo was built in 1996 (130 m²) with a reception area for parents and changing room, shower and footbath. During the 2022/2023 season the name of the Prayssac judo club changed to become Judo club lower valley of the Lot, in order to be better represented throughout the territory. Eric Le Cru (3rd dan black belt) has been a teacher there since September 1, 2022.

For her part, Madame Isabelle David explains with emotion: “I wanted to stop being president for personal reasons. It was a great adventure where I met extraordinary people. A big thank you to everyone whose path I crossed and who helped me, supported me, encouraged me to run this judo club. From now on Bruno and I are licensed at Cahors Judo. After 25 years of presidency and not having found a motivated buyer to succeed me, I proposed to the Cahors club to take over the judo activity in Prayssac. I wish Cahors Judo and Eric great continuity and great success. »
