The Debate Continues: Is Novak Djokovic Truly the Best Tennis Player in History?

In terms of achievements, there is no doubt that Novak Djokovic is the best tennis player in history. With 24 Grand Slams, this season he has surpassed Rafa Nadal (22) and last year he did it with Roger Federer (20).

However, the debate about who has been the best and most complete athlete is on the table.

And it is because of attitudes like the one Djokovic had this Tuesday in the match against Jannik Sinner.

As he has done on other occasions, the Serbian, when he was trailing on the scoreboard, left to go to the bathroom, asked for medical assistance… all to make his rival nervous.

Adriano Panatta, former tennis player and winner of Roland Garros in 1976 who was commentating on the ATP Finals match, harshly attacked ‘Nole’ for something that according to him neither the Spaniard nor the Swiss would have done.

“Have you ever seen Federer or Nadal behave like Djokovic did tonight? I would have bet anything that he was going to try to break the rhythm in the match, he always does,” said the former tennis player.

“First the bath, then the physio, he tries everything. I don’t like that attitude at all, thank goodness Sinner doesn’t care, he stays there calmly,” Panatta added.

With his defeat against Sinner, Djokovic could be left out of the semifinals of the Masters Cup if there was a ‘biscotto’ in the match between Jannik and Rune.
