Juan Román Riquelme, candidate for president of Boca, stated this Tuesday that “I feel lucky to be in this place” but that “I hope this man (pointing to Macri without naming him) lets the fans vote on Sunday.”
Meanwhile, outside the stadium, more than five thousand “xeneizes” fans celebrated a rally in support of Riquelme as a presidential candidate against the Andrés Ibarra-Mauricio Macri opposition ticket.

Regarding the reasons why Judge Abrevaya suspended the elections with a resolution signed at 1:40 this Tuesday in which pone in question the appointment of more than 13,000 partners who went from adherents to active and therefore are entitled to vote, Riquelme was critical of the press.

Then he referred to “these three characters (Ibarra, Macri and Mario Pergolini, his former vice president now a member candidate for the opposition) who want to privatize the club. Ibarra: “They want to rig the election”
Andrés Ibarra, Boca’s presidential candidate for the opposition, accused the club’s ruling party of wanting to “rig the election,” although he clarified that his group also wants to vote on December 3.

This Tuesday, Boca’s leadership accused the opposition of “not letting members vote,” after the Buenos Aires justice system suspended next Sunday’s presidential elections due to a complaint of irregularities in the registry made by the opposition candidate, Andrés Ibarra.
“Clearly the complaint by the opposition candidate, Andrés Ibarra, the only thing he seeks is for the elections not to be held,” Boca said at the beginning of the aforementioned statement.
“From Club Atlético Boca Juniors we want members and fans to be allowed to vote. Because what Ibarra precisely wants is for the elections not to be held on Sunday because he knows they will lose.“said the club’s statement.
Then, in order to clarify the facts, Boca went on to explain what happened point by point:
“1.- The Board of Directors has the powers to incorporate members, in fact, the CD that Andrés Ibarra formed under the presidency of Daniel Angelici incorporated 51,473 members with the same procedure that is questioned today.”
“2.- In December 2019 there were 115,123 active members, and we respect their right to vote, now there are 114,665, meaning that the club currently has fewer members than it had in 2019, there being nothing irregular, demonstrating once again that the only thing the opposition wants is for the fans not to vote.
“3.- The Civil Justice in 2019 said that the Board of Directors decided the incorporation of partners and that those who had acquired the status of active members for 2 years could not be left without voting, otherwise their rights would be violated. “It shows that what Ibarra wants is to violate them.”
“4. What’s more, after a year of being declared an active member by the Board of Directors, that member cannot be questioned as such. This is stated in the club’s statute and the civil justice confirmed it in 2019. They are questioning members who have been admitted for a long time. more than two years, who pay their dues up to date, who undoubtedly love the club and that Mr. Ibarra does not want to let them vote.
“5.- The judge who suspended the elections today said that the irregularities were demonstrated because 8/26, 9/9, 9/16, 9/17 and 10/7 of 2021 were Saturdays or Sundays during non-working hours “If you look at the 2021 calendar, those days were Thursday and Friday. The judge used days from the 2023 calendar. This shows that the only intention is to harm the partners.”
“6. As said before, the right to vote of club members is the most sacred thing there is and we want to protect it. It is acquired in a regulatory manner with a period of 2 years and if no one criticizes it within the year, Nobody can question it. Today they intend to do it with ten thousand members, among which are the baby, minor, cadet and international categories who do not even vote, all for the purpose of suspending an election. Once again, the only thing they do “It’s hurting the fan.”
Finally, the Boca Juniors Atlético Club stated that “He has done everything regularly and in accordance with the club’s statute and what the court has ruled in 2019”.
