“I don’t know what generation or group I’m in, but I’m here again competing with the young people. It’s an extra motivation because I know they are hungry to win and make history. That inspires me and motivates me more to play my best tennis,” explains Novak Djokovic about the Next Gen in the press conference held during the official presentation of the tournament, as reported by Marca. He has already expressed it before, the new generation is a source of motivation for the Serbian to continue fighting for titles, although for a couple of years now he has focused on the most important ones of the year.

“The best players in the world are here. Each tennis player has great qualities and deserves to be in the tournament. There are no easy matches or preferences for being in one group or another, here each match is like a final. It is an honor for me to participate in this tournament again,” said the Serbian, according to Torino Cronaca. Novak has won the event six times, being the first player to do so consecutively from 2012 to 2015, so Djokovic knows what he needs to win the trophy, despite different rivals coming over the years.

“It is nice to see the city that lives for tennis during this week of the ATP Finals 2023 and that there is so much passion. We hope to see a lot of people at the games,” said the world number one, who seeks to defend his title in the tournament held in Italy after winning it just a year ago.
