The agreement unleashes a night of riots in Madrid in the most massive mobilization

Madrid / Barcelona Four years ago, Barcelona was burning with the mobilizations for the judgment of the Process. Four years later, the hot autumn has moved to Madrid, where the extreme right has already taken to the streets for a week to protest that those leaders who were convicted or who went into exile should be granted amnesty. The pact signed between the PSOE and Junts, which includes the amnesty law, has unleashed riots in what has been the largest gathering in front of the headquarters of Ferraz after a week of protests.

If only 1,500 people gathered in front of the socialist headquarters on Wednesday, more than 8,000 people did so this Thursday evening in a day that ended with police charges and at least fourteen ultras arrested for public disorder. The anti-riots have managed to separate the bulk of the rally and the incidents have taken place in the surrounding streets, where groups of ultras, separated from each other, have clashed with the police, who have responded by firing rubber balls . Some journalists have also been harassed and persecuted by the Spaniards with cries of “manipulators”. Another hundred protesters sat on the ground and demanded that the police officers join them in an act of disobedience that has already been repeated on another night, without the police charging. After a while, the demonstrators themselves decided to lift the sit-in and leave voluntarily.

On the other hand, the pro-Spanish rally in Barcelona was very minor and without any kind of incident. Only 350 people, according to figures from the Urban Guard, have protested in front of the headquarters of the Spanish government in Barcelona against the amnesty and pacts for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez. At the beginning of the rally, some of the demonstrators burned images of Pedro Sánchez accompanied by the message of ‘traitor’ and accused him of “selling Spain”. The rally began at 8 p.m. with a small group of people that grew when those who had previously met in Plaça Artós joined them. For more than an hour, proclamations were heard against Sánchez such as “he is not a president, he is a criminal” and also against Carles Puigdemont such as “Puigdemont, in prison”. There were also shouts against the PSOE and the PP in an event attended by Vox’s top brass in Catalonia, led by Ignacio Garriga.
