A few days ago the documentary about the life of football coach Christoph Daum was published, which is not least about the eventful fate of 1. FC Köln. Daum explains how hard his dismissal from this club hit him in 1990, after he had almost become German champion.
He speculates that it had become too big and too important back then and that they would not allow the “1st” to be here. FC Daum” was created, he was told. So he flew out. Now they have another very special coach at Geißbockheim in Steffen Baumgart. There probably hasn’t been a football coach here since Daum with whom the fans had so much hope over several seasons.
