Texas Football Holds Strong at No. 7 in College Football Playoff Rankings

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Football remains at No. 7 in 2023 College Football Playoff rankings announced on Tuesday night. The Longhorns are also ranked seventh in both the Associated Press and US LBM Coaches Poll. UT has been ranked seventh in each of the first four CFP rankings.

The Longhorns (10-1, 7-1) won on the road at Iowa State on Saturday, 26-16, holding the Cyclones to nine rushing yards, the fifth-straight game in which the Longhorns have held an opponent to fewer than 100 rushing yards and the fewest allowed by UT against a Big 12 opponent since 2012.

Texas’ 10-1 start includes a pair of five-game winning streaks and is the best for the program since 2009, while the 7-1 mark in Big 12 Conference play is matches the best start for the team since 2013.

The Horns close out the regular season on Senior Night this Friday, Nov. 24 against Texas Tech (6-5, 5-3). The game will kick off from inside Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium at 6:30 p.m. CT and will air on ABC. A Texas victory will secure a spot for the Longhorns in the Big 12 Conference Championship Game for the first time since 2018.
