Holder of a Master’s degree in sports journalism, I fell in love with tennis since childhood and have always loved reading the great stories of this sport. Today, I want to tell them about them, take full advantage of my passion and be as close as possible to the aces of the circuit.

In difficulty for several years due to the gradual withdrawal from the international scene of the generation led by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in particular, French tennis is in the midst of a restructuring phase. The new generation had difficulty seeing the light of day and we must now count on Arthur Fils. However, the 2023 season gave rise to some nice surprises that we didn’t necessarily expect. Unfortunately, this did not translate into great results at home in the most important meetings.

It’s hard to say but French tennis has achieved its worst record in the history of Rolex Paris Masters since its creation in 1986. With two players ranked in the top 30, almost three, we could expect a completely different trajectory. Despite great difficulties in Roland-Garros and at Bercy, the year is not at all to be thrown away, quite the contrary.

5 titles, first since 2019

France is the nation that shines the most on the circuit Challenger. At circuit level ATPit is quite simply the best year since 2019 in terms of titles since Richard Gasquet, Gaël Monfils, Adrian Mannarino (twice) and Arthur Son won a title. This is a sign that everything is not going so bad, even if apart fromArthur Sonit’s still the old generation that shines.

Heartbreak at home

Despite the great stories, French players have not necessarily managed to shine at Roland-Garros and at Rolex Paris Masters This year. Indeed, in one tournament like the other, French tennis experienced its worst experience in history. As these are the two biggest tournaments in France, the spotlight is on this performance. Obviously, it is very difficult to rejoice when we see that the French are not capable of shining at home.

Return to the top in 2024?

In 2023, French tennis has still had some great stories with Gaël Monfils notably, back in the top 100. For the moment, Ugo Humbert et Adrian Mannarino will be seeded in Australia, as they already were atUS Opena first for two French people in the same tournament Grand Slam since the beginning of 2022. Above all, it is the rise in power ofArthur Son which is expected, he who has acted recently to ensure that his progress is accelerated.
