Swiatek Dominates and Secures Sixth Tournament Victory of the Year

“It wasn’t easy this week,” explained Swiatek after her sixth tournament victory of this calendar year and then raved highly about the audience in Cancún:

“We received a lot of love from the Mexican fans. They cheered us on and made it special. Every year I feel like I get more support and I really feel like I want to achieve more. “

In a more than one-sided final, Swiatek took her opponent’s serve for the first time when the score was 2-1 in the first round – it was the beginning of a brilliant final show for the Pole.

In the second round, Swiatek immediately took the initiative again, breaking Pegula twice in a row and thus breaking the American’s resistance.

Only when the score was 1:6 and 0:5 from Pegula’s perspective did the world number five earn her first and only break point of the game. However, Swiatek immediately fended off this and shortly afterwards converted her first match point on her own serve to win the title.
