The Villanueva de la Torre municipal sports hall hosted a test of the Castilla-La Mancha Autonomous Badminton Championship on Saturday, October 28, in the sub-11, sub-15 and absolute categories. It had the participation of a total of 81 athletes and ended with the dispute of more than 150 matches.
The tournament, which is held annually and is divided into two phases (on October 28, the one corresponding to the sub-13, sub-17 and senior categories was held in Velada, Toledo), ended in its second phase in Villanueva de la Torre for the first time in the history.
The test included the participation of the best rackets in Castilla-La Mancha and was a mandatory requirement to subsequently compete in the Spanish Championship in each category. In fact, the best players in the absolute category will represent the region in the Spanish Championship of Regional Teams, to be held from December 15 to 17 in Villanueva de la Vera (Cáceres).

The Goose Wings club from Villanueva de la Torre closed its participation in the Autonomous Championship with a notable performance, scoring nine podiums. The club did almost completely, taking almost all the first and second places that gave access to the podium in the U11 and U15 categories, and also had good results in the other category at stake, absolute, in which it achieved two third places and one fourth. .
The competition ended on schedule after playing more than 150 matches and showing a formidable level in the athletes, with the final victory in the absolute category going to Miguel Serrano and Silvia Redondo, in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.
The regional Autonomous Championship was organized by the Badminton Federation of Castilla-La Mancha and the Goose Wings Club of Villanueva de la Torre, and had the collaboration of the City Council.
