[시사일보=최한규 기자] The ‘2023 Asan City Sports Council President’s Cup Badminton Competition’ was held at the Asan City Complex Sports Center over two days, the 25th and 26th.
This tournament, hosted by the Asan City Badminton Association to improve the health of Asan citizens and revitalize leisure through physical activities, was a success with 200 teams and 400 people participating in mixed doubles, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles.
The preliminaries were league matches and the finals were held in a tournament format, and in order to expand the base of badminton enthusiasts, they were divided into A to D and beginner grades according to age and skill level.
Asan Mayor Park Gyeong-gwi said at the opening ceremony, “I have been to many competitions, but the badminton competition venue is the place where I can feel the liveliness and passion of the club members.” He added, “It is an aspect of ‘stylistic revival’ that Asan City is promoting by changing its city brand to ‘Art Valley Asan.’ “It’s like watching,” he said.
Mayor Park continued, “Please find health and vitality through badminton and join forces to develop Asan City into the best city in the country,” adding, “I hope this will be a time to strengthen friendships among members through enjoyable exercise.”
Meanwhile, badminton is a popular sport that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy easily regardless of time and place, and Asan City operates a weekly badminton program at the Sports Complex Center.
