Once the celebrations for the 70th Anniversary of the Foundation are over, we are back to talking about sporting activities in the Polisportiva Libertas Molfetta with its athletes from the sectors Karate, Lotta e Judo engaged in competitive events at all levels in recent weeks.
The busiest sector was Karate where within a few weeks athletes from the Cadet, Junior and Very Young classes were the protagonists.
Between the end of October and the first ten days of November athletes Cappelluti Maria – Cadet class, Sasso Daniele e Trent Joseph – Junior class – were involved in the national finals of the Italian Kumite Championships.
After having qualified through the regional tests, the standard bearers of Polisportiva Libertas, led to the corner by the coach Antonio Coppolecchia, they tried their hand at the national field for the first time, in the PalaFijlkam of Ostia, behaving well and fighting without fear against their opponents. No podium finishes were achieved, but the conditions have certainly been laid to try again next year with greater conviction and with the right experience to do better.
Last Sunday 26 November, however, the Polisportiva Libertas Molfetta was involved in two different sporting events, which took place a few kilometers from each other.
The Under 17 and Over 17 Italian Freestyle Wrestling Cup was staged in Martina Franca, where the wrestler was once again the protagonist Ilario Samarelli who obtained a good third place in the 61 kg over 17 category. The Polisportiva Liberta athlete was returning from an injury that kept him out of action for over forty days and despite little preparation and a category higher than his traditional one he managed to perform well, bringing take home a precious bronze medal.
In Noicattaro, however, the Youth Grand Prix reserved for children and young people took place with courses and balloon games and Kata specialties for Under 14s and Under 12s.
The under 14s competed in Kata Giovanni Giannandreaalready winner of last June’s stage, and the under 12s De Palo Gabriele e By Candia Filippo. The three athletes stopped before the semi-finals, losing to their opponents by a few cents in the referee evaluations. Some details that the technical staff, composed of Antonio Coppolecchia, Spadavecchia Francesco, Ferrieri Mauror and the supervision of the Master Giovanni Mastropierro, will improve in the next training sessions. In the same event, however, six very young athletes took part in the circuit and balloon game tests, thus starting to approach competitive activity through play but above all in comparison with other athletes of the same age and sporting realities from all over the region.
It was definitely an experience to remember for the athletes Apruzzese Aurora, Minervini Valeria and athletes Annese Cristian, Gargano Giuseppe e Giannandrea Gabriele.
Finally, on Sunday 3 December in the gym of the Polisportiva Libertas Molfetta a randori internship of the Judo sector was organized for the age groups of children, children, young people and beginners. So, once again an activity organized for very young age groups to put the youngest athletes in a position to compete with other peers, with different training methodologies, trying techniques and stimulating them to fight. Under the supervision of federal technicians and the coach Alicino Sebastiano athletes of various age groups will compete for approximately 3 hours of training.
Intense weeks for the Sports Management of Michele Amato, involved in the management of competitive activities in the various sectors, the preparation of wrestling athletes and the organization of celebratory events for the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Polisportiva Libertas Molfetta. There are still some events on the calendar including a regional wrestling training session in the Polisportiva Libertas gym.
Thanks to new and old collaborators, despite numerous sporting and non-sporting commitments, the activity of the Molfetta club continues with enthusiasm and results.
