Yesterday, the Sa Blanca Dona pavilion in Ibiza hosted the finals of the Spanish Internacional U17, with Estrada presence in two of them. Iziar Barcala, wearing the Spanish shirt, participated in both the women’s singles and mixed doubles finals and in both she ended up winning the gold medal. Her great performance was completed with a bronze in the women’s doubles competition.
Barcala arrived at this international event with her recent Spanish champion title under her arm and with a season in which she has accumulated triumphs. On this occasion, however, the challenge was different, with several players arriving from outside Spain who came to the event with the aim of fighting for victory. One of them was the Estradense’s rival in the women’s final, the German player Lisa Bonnemann, whom the Estradense managed to beat in two sets; the first for a tight 23/21 and the second for a clear 21/10.
The Badminton Club player A Estrada also did not notice the effort of having to play two finals in a short time. In the other one, in the mixed, she won the medal along with her teammate Raúl Bergua, after beating her teammates Gonzalo Isabal and Sofía García, in two sets.
Barcala thus closes a great weekend, being part of the Spanish team, and closing the International with three medals.
