Of course, the great winner in this test was the Dane Jakob Houe, who defeated the Swiss Mueller in the other semifinal and later won the title by defeating Dalvi 21-17 and 21-16.

There was also no Spanish presence on the women’s individual podium. In this test Leona Lee was proclaimed champion after defeating the Belgian Clara Lassaux in an exciting semifinal (18-21, 21-16 and 22-20) and the Danish Sofie Karmann also after coming back (17-21, 21-16 and 21 -17).

Rain of Spanish medals

The national athletes, on the other hand, did shine with their own light in the doubles events, confirming once again the progress of the Spanish athletes in these events with four medals. One of the best performances of our athletes was seen in the mixed doubles, an event in which Rubén García and Lucía Rodríguez won the title after beating the also Spaniards Jacobo Fernández and Paula López in the final by 21-16 and 21-17.

To reach that final, García and Rodróguez signed a solid victory against the Danish couple of Gadegaard and Røjkaer (21-16 and 21-12), while Fernández and López pulled out all the stops to beat Melgaard and Tommerup (21-18, 11 -21 and 21-16).

Spanish badminton can also boast of the good results achieved in gender doubles. Firstly, Carlos Piris and Rubén García beat the Germans Marvin Datko and Jarne Schlevoigt in the semifinals (21-15, 13-21 and 21-15), meeting the Danes Gadegaard and Geisler in the final, in which they also emerged winners after winning 21-14 and 21-11.

The icing on the cake came in the women’s section, with Lucía Rodríguez and the Pitiús player Paula López as the protagonists. And, after shining in the semifinals against the French Anouk Nambot and Xu Wei (21-14 and 21-17), they rounded off their great performance by coming back in a heart-stopping final against the also French Cesari and Schaffner (20-22, 21-15 and 25-23).

The cherry on top of 10 intense days

This third and last tournament held on the island consecutively is another championship with great tradition that is marked on the calendars of many young athletes.

On this occasion it brings together more than 110 participants, of which more than half will be Spanish. In addition, 22 of them compete representing the national teams of these categories, one more reason not to miss anything that happens in sa Blanca Dona. And the national athletes have a lot to say in Ibiza, since the Spanish and Ibizan youth teams have long ago taken a step forward in international competitions and are called to do great things in the short, medium and long term.
