SK ‘Super Nova-2’ Triumphs in Latvian Club Football League Final

In the final, the champion of the Northern zone SK “Super Nova-2” and the best team of the Western zone JFC “Jelgava” competed. No goals were scored in regular time, but in the 99th minute of the match, Daniels Radzeniek scored accurately. At the end of extra time, Kristians Sergejs Chernov also scored a goal, which brought victory to SK “Super Nova-2” with the result 2:0.

On the other hand, in the match for 3rd/4th. Central zone vice-champion FK “Union” and West zone’s second best team Grobiņas SC-2/”Dienvidkurzeme” met for the first place. In the first half, Tom Gucs gave the lead to the representatives of Kurzeme, but at the end of the regular time, Ingus Makovskis achieved a draw. Here, too, the winner was determined in extra time, in which Grobiņa team player Henrijs Vasilijevs sent the ball into his own goal, with FK “Union” winning 2:1.

In the numerically richer Latvian club football league, teams previously competed within their regions, but at the peak of the season, the best of them met in the final tournament. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, the winners were determined by the sum of two games. The winners of the first three places earn the right to compete in the “Altero.lv LIIGA” championship in 2024.
