Extraordinary result for Andrea Cano of the Judo Club Alghero

On Saturday 10 November, at the Play Hall in Riccione, the Italian Judo Beginners B A2 Championships (class 2009/2010) took place in which two athletes from the Alghero Judo Club participated, Andrea Cano in the kg. 60 and Agostino Stile in kg. +81. The two judokas were able to participate in the national final after having passed the regional qualification which took place in Arborea on 29 October, where they ranked first in their respective categories.

The result obtained in the Italian Championship was extraordinary, where the Alghero athlete Andrea Cano became Vice Champion of Italy A2 in kg. 60, winning all matches except the final match, showing great technique and determination. Unfortunately, the last test, which was largely dominated, was compromised by a technical error by the athlete, who was unable to climb onto the top step of the podium. In addition to the Silver Medal, Cano gained access to the Italian B A1 Beginners Championship which will take place on December 9th, at the PalaPellicone in Ostia, an event in which he will participate in the national final of the 20 strongest athletes in the category.

The other judoka from Alghero, Agostino Stile, in his first experience in the national field, brilliantly won his first kg match. +81, but then he failed to move forward in the rankings. However, he showed good technique and determination. Great satisfaction on the part of the Technicians of the Judo Club Alghero, the Masters Gavino Piredda and Monica Piredda and the coach Nicola Placidi who accompanied the boys to this championship which is a harbinger of positive results.
