Sevillian Sports Clubs Receive Assurance of Provincial Council Support

SEVILLA, 22 (EUROPA PRESS)

The provincial deputy for Culture and Citizenship, Casimiro Fernández, also responsible for Sports in the province, expressed this Wednesday the “total willingness” of the Seville Provincial Council to maintain and strengthen the collaboration that has been provided to the Sevillian sports clubs, eight of which they had demanded precise information on the status of the 2023 call for subsidies to promote minority Olympic and Paralympic sports modalities of maximum and sub-maximum categories, under the premise that it had not yet been published despite the advanced nature of the calendar.

Fernández sat down at the Provincial Council Headquarters with the heads of the minority Olympic and Paralympic sports clubs of maximum and sub-maximum categories, who had requested to meet with the deputy to receive information about the financial support of the Institution for the promotion of this sports.

Representatives of the Esquimo Volleyball Group Club of Dos Hermanas were present at this meeting; from the Rinconada-Sevilla Badminton Club; Mairena Volley Club; Utrera Volleyball; the Sevilla Quad Rugby Alcalá de Guadaíra Sports Club; the Mairena Aljarafe Swimming Club and the Dos Hermanas Water Polo Club.

Weeks ago, these clubs warned of “the worrying situation of sport in Seville and the province”, as well as its “weak situation, the urgent need to know the bases of the call for 2023 and a change of course in sports policy”, Because in his opinion the Provincial Council dedicates “very low budgets” to it, causing “a comparative insult for the Sevillian clubs in relation to what the clubs in other Andalusian provinces receive.”

Casimiro Fernández has had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the situation of each of these clubs, to whose leaders he has conveyed that “the will of the Provincial Council to continue rowing for provincial sport will be supported by its financial support.”
