Serhou Guirassy is one of the guarantors of success at VfB Stuttgart this season. The Guinea international scored in eight of his nine appearances in the Bundesliga. With him, the Swabians won eight times, only losing against Leipzig (1:5). Especially in the weeks when he was missing due to a thigh injury, it became clear how much his team needed him.
In the two games without him, his colleagues lost against Hoffenheim (2:3) and Heidenheim (0:2). In his comeback against BVB last weekend, he came on as a substitute and scored the 2-1 winning goal. Guirassy’s extremely good form does not go unnoticed across Europe.

After the Dortmund game, the 27-year-old had to answer a question about his future. He told an ESPN reporter: “In football, things can happen quickly. I’m here, my focus is here. But nobody knows what will happen in January.”
The statement doesn’t leave much room for interpretation: If a lucrative offer comes for the striker, he can imagine a change. In Stuttgart, the alarm bells are likely to be ringing for sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth. It is already known that Guirassy could leave the club next summer thanks to a clause for around 20 million.

Guirassy successor from Greece?
The view also moved to Greece to Panathinaikos Athens. There, Fotis Ioannidis is currently showing his skills up front, scoring eight goals and assisting four goals in 20 games across all competitions.
However, since no interested party has yet reported Guirassy, VfB is said not to have made any specific statements to Ioannidis yet. A detail that could mean a disadvantage for the Swabians. Stuttgart are not the only ones showing interest in the Greek international. Accordingly, there should also be competition from the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt.
A possible signing of Ioannis could not be entirely favorable for VfB either. On the football platform “transfermarkt.de”, the Greek’s market value is currently estimated at 3.5 million euros. He also has a long-term contract until 2027. It is unclear whether he has an exit clause.
Stuttgart sports director Wohlgemuth would therefore have to take part of the Guirassy millions in order to be able to sign Ioannis. The prerequisite for this would be a Guirassy sale, which no one in Stuttgart is currently hoping for.
