Senegal Dominates at the 7th Edition of the Yaoundé Open, Winning 5 Gold Medals

Senegal took part in the 7th edition of the Yaoundé Open (Cameroon) this weekend. With a strong delegation, the Senegalese judokas distinguished themselves by winning 6 medals, including 5 gold.

A week after winning almost all the titles at the Dakar International Open, the Senegalese achieved a feat on Cameroonian soil. They gleaned 6 medals, including 5 gold.

Cadet Seydou Bacary Djimera (-55 kg) won the most significant medal in his category. Among the juniors, Moussa Diop (-60kg) also won gold to the detriment of the other African competitors.

Highly anticipated, Abderahmane Diao (-90 kg) and Mbagnick Ndiaye (+100 kg) also showed their hegemony over African judo. Three-time African champion Mbagnick Ndiaye seems unstoppable since the last African Championships.

Among the ladies, Monica Sagna (+78 kg) closed the list of golden Senegalese, with her gold medal in her category, while Léa Buet (-52 kg) obtained the bronze medal in her category. Which makes a harvest of 6 medals. A great participation from Senegal which confirms its good momentum at the end of 2023.
