It was a very successful year for Sascha Möller. Vice world champion, European champion and second place in the world rankings – the Schleswig native is nominated as athlete of the year 2023.
Sascha Möller is only 36 years old, but is already one of the seniors in tennis. And that’s exactly where the Schleswiger is the measure of all things: first place in the German “Men’s 35” rankings, second place in the world rankings. Sascha Möller can also call himself European champion – it was simply an extremely successful year for him. As a national player and captain of the German team, he and his team became runner-up in the world championships in Turkey. In the individual he brought the silver medal back to his homeland. “It’s been going through the roof since January. I’m really proud of myself – it’s the result of my hard work.”
Promote talent with your own tennis school
Sascha Möller pursues two interests: He wants to be successful in sports and advance his tennis school.
How does he train? Most of the time he’s actually alone, he reveals. With the ball machine, line runs and also many sessions without the ball. “I’m very fit and have reached a new level.” In fact, Sascha Möller is on the tennis court a lot because he quit his job as a financial advisor last year and founded his own mobile tennis school. Whether in Schleswig, in Bredstedt (Nordfriesland district) or other places: the tennis professional gives lessons everywhere, wants to promote tennis in the region and discover talent. “Of course I also have a performance mindset: I want to support many young, talented players well.”
If you ask the young father about his own sporting goals, he has to think a little longer. “World champion in singles – that’s perhaps another goal. And to continue to be at the top of the World Cup with the national team.”
