Arezzo, 21 November 2023 – On the pitch of Folgore Fucecchio, bottom of the group and still stuck with zero points, Dukes aims to achieve its second away victory of the season.
New signing Marco Cipriani makes his black and white debut, immediately deployed in the starting lineup in the guard role. Romolini Immobiliare started the match well, turning the ball over and always finding the best possible shot.
In defense, however, several offensive rebounds were granted which allowed Fucecchio, a very physical team, to hang on to the game. At the end of the first set Sansepolcro still leads 25-19.
In the second quarter the match becomes dirtier and more fragmented, a factor that works in favor of the less technical hosts. Hassan, after 9 points in the opening quarter, spent most of the next on the bench after committing his third foul.
Cipriani even reaches four and even Bazani, with three, is forced to limit himself to avoid risking worse trouble. The boos continue to pile up and the two teams soon reach the bonus. The game turns into a sort of free throw contest.
Fucecchio gets more, but shoots them at low percentages, allowing the Dukes to lead 38-34 at halftime. In the second half, Romolini Immobiliare returns to playing its own basketball and starts again with an 8-2 run which allows it to reach a double-digit lead for the first time.
Mihajlovic begins to score points by making the most of the passes offered by Hassan and Spillantini. In the end it will be 28 for the Serbian center: his season high.
Despite everything, however, Fucecchio manages to stay in the game and at the end of the third period tries to get closer, but two key triples from Alunni and one from Hassan allow Sansepolcro to guarantee a margin of six points in view of the last quarter, which begins with the bianconeri above 61-55.
In the fourth period Romolini Immobiliare continues on the path traced in the previous one, asserting its technical and athletic superiority and obtaining its maximum advantage of the evening, at +13.
After the exit due to five fouls by Mihajlovic and Cipriani, the home team regained strength and returned to under the double-digit lead. At this point, however, Hassan takes care of it, drawing three experienced fouls in attack and converting all six free throws, while in defense he suffers a decisive breakthrough that definitively crushes Fucecchio’s hopes.
In the last minute of the match Bazani also joins the players who have reached the maximum number of fouls, but the victory is now on ice. Romolini Immobiliare Dukes wins 81-72 and earns its fifth success in the championship. Sansepolcro therefore rises to 10 points and overtakes Montevarchi to take fourth place in the standings.
