René Maric Joins FC Bayern as Head of Coaching Development and Game Ideas

Exciting new signing for FC Bayern! As SPORT1 previously reported and the German record champions have now confirmed, René Maric is moving to the Munich team and will work there in coaching training.

The 31-year-old will therefore support coaches in the U16 to U23 range on campus.

Remarkable: As team leader responsible for coaching development and game ideas, Bayern created a new and previously unprecedented position for Maric.

The Austrian will strengthen the interface on the Bayern campus with Säbener Straße in the future, the FCB announced.

“René drew attention to his abilities early on with his work in Salzburg,” said sports director Christoph Freund, who – like campus boss Jochen Sauer – still knows Maric from their time together at RB Salzburg. Now he will “provide new and important impulses” in Munich.

In Salzburg, Maric also gained his first coaching experience at a professional club, leading the team to two championships alongside Marco Rose.

The Bundesliga, in turn, also knows Maric because of his interaction with Rose and his time as assistant coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund.

Last summer, Maric was hired as an assistant coach at English Premier League club Leeds United, but his contract with the later relegated team was terminated in February of this year.

According to the courier, Maric was also a candidate at Rapid Vienna. The eighth-placed team in the Austrian Bundesliga is looking for a successor to the dismissed head coach Zoran Barisic.

Maric is now not hiring in Vienna, but in Munich.
