Referees, players and coaches call for the “civic attitude” of fans in pavilions

MADRID, 24 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The associations of basketball referees (AEBA), players (ABP) and coaches (AEEB) called this Friday for the “civic attitude” of the fans present in the pavilions, remembering that they cannot “rebuke, insult or attack during the exercise of their activity or profession”, after a meeting in which they analyzed future proposals for national and international calendars, according to a statement.

“After the last meeting held between the associations of referees (AEBA), players (ABP) and coaches (AEEB), among the different topics that have been discussed there has been one of great relevance and that refers to the behavior and civic attitude of spectators when they attend a sporting event,” the entities reported.

The three actors defended that it is “important to state” that spectators cannot “rebuke, insult or attack them during the exercise of their activity or profession.” “We mean that referees, players and coaches cannot be recipients of verbal or physical actions either before, during, or after their activity. We all know what needs to be prevented and, therefore, we all have responsibilities to comply,” the statement added.

The entities advanced that during the meeting “different visions for future proposals that have to do with improving national and international calendars” were also discussed, to see the possible “incidence” they may have “on the projection of national players and their development.”

“Issues of regulation analysis and, of course, their applications in competitions were also discussed,” concluded the statement about the meeting between referees, players and coaches.
