“Reconnect with the popular essence of football”: free Paris FC matches all season

The Stade Charléty opens its doors free of charge. This Friday, Paris FC announced that all of its home matches would be free for spectators. The experience had already been proposed on the occasion of the return from a forced exile of four matches in Troyes at the start of the season. From now on, starting with the reception in Bastia on November 11, the rest of the 2023-2024 season will be too.

In addition to Ligue 2, this operation also concerns the PFC women’s team which plays in D1 Arkema. The women’s team’s Champions League matches, however, will not be affected by the system.

Despite being free, Paris FC supporters will still be able to put their hands in their pockets if they wish. A social utility or common good association will be highlighted at each meeting and fans will be able to make a donation. “We want to unite around our club, our teams, while committing ourselves with strength and conviction,” explained Pierre Ferracci, President of Paris FC, in a press release.

The Parisian club is not the first to set up such an operation in Europe. Last April, the German club Fortuna Düsseldorf, which plays in the second division, also made it possible to attend certain team matches free of charge. The objective of Fortuna was to combat the increase in ticketing in the world of football. As a result, 17 Premier League clubs have set a higher price for their season tickets this season.

“Football must not exclude but bring together”

After Düsseldorf, it is therefore Paris FC which follows this movement. And unlike the German club, all Ligue 2 and D1 Arkema matches are affected. “The ambition is to reconnect with the popular essence of football and to offer a spectacle open to all,” writes the PFC in its press release. The club, which has been developing this project for several months, wants the sporting spectacle offered on the field to be made accessible to everyone, families or groups of friends, football fans or not, whatever their age or category. social. »

The objective is also to increase attendance at matches at Stade Charléty. Other sources of income will be generated, in particular thanks to shareholders and partners.

Raï, former Brazilian international and Paris FC ambassador, welcomed this unique initiative. “Football should not exclude but bring together, it is a sport which unleashes passions and they are even stronger when they are experienced collectively, in great conviviality,” declared the former Paris Saint-Germain player. It is also important that football is aware of societal issues and plays its part to respond to them, taking advantage of its exposure. In this sense, what Paris FC offers is truly wonderful. » It’s now up to the public to respond, starting next Saturday, November 11 against Bastia.
