Nov 26, 2023 at 6:14 PM Update: a day ago

Real Madrid has certainly taken over the top position in La Liga from Girona for one day. The Madrilenians won 0-3 at Cádiz on Sunday, partly thanks to two great goals from Rodrygo. Sevilla had a bad general for the Champions League match with PSV.

Rodrygo scored in the fourteenth minute for Real in Cádiz. The Brazilian slalomed his way through the Cádiz defense and shot the ball beautifully into the intersection.

After more than an hour, Luka Modric was close to making it 0-2, but his long-range shot hit the post. Moments later, Rodrygo doubled the lead and again he did so beautifully. This time the attacker dribbled past several Cádiz defenders and finished in the right corner.

Rodrygo also provided the assist for Jude Bellingham’s 0-3 fifteen minutes before the end. The Englishman made the decision with a slider into the far corner.

The victory means that Real is the leader in La Liga at least until Monday evening. ‘De Koninklijke’ has one point more than Girona, but Daley Blind’s team will still play at home against Athletic Club on Monday.

Sevilla loses due to Sadiq’s spectacular goal

Earlier in the day, Sevilla lost 2-1 at Real Sociedad, partly due to a beautiful goal from Umar Sadiq. The seven-time Europa League winner fell behind after just three minutes. Goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic managed to save a free kick from Ander Barrenetxea, but then pushed the ball into his own goal with his foot.

Twenty minutes later, Sadiq provided the highlight of the match. The former NAC Breda player received the ball at the halfway line, passed some opponents and shot the ball beautifully into the intersection from about 30 meters.

Youssef En Nesyri brought Sevilla back into the match after an hour of play. The Moroccan headed home from Adrià Pedrosa’s cross. Sevilla ended the game with nine men due to red cards for Sergio Ramos (serious foul) and Jesús Navas (remarks on arbitration) in the final phase. The defeat leaves Sevilla fifteenth.

Sevilla will play against PSV in the Champions League next Wednesday (kick-off 6.45 pm). The Spaniards are last in group B and have three points less than the Eindhoven team, who are in second place.
