Quagliarella says enough: “I’m not in a position to continue playing” – Football

Fabio Quagliarella says enough. Released since August after the end of his relationship with Sampdoria, the forty-year-old striker has formalized a decision that was up in the air. “Yes of course, I’m forced – he told Sky sport – Maybe something will come but I’m in unacceptable physical condition to take to the pitch now”.

Born in Castellammare di Stabia on 31 January 1983, Quagliarella won three consecutive championships with Juventus, from 2011-2012 to 2013-2014. With the Turin club he also won two editions of the Italian Super Cup (2012 and 2013). In his long career he wore, among others, the shirts of Turin, Udinese and Napoli. With the national team he has 28 appearances and 9 goals, in addition to the record of oldest goalscorer, having scored at the age of 36 years and 54 days, in March 2019, in a Euro 2020 qualifying match against Liechtenstein.

Numbers of a high-level career, but now it’s time to move on: “Dreams must always be there, one is to be able to stay in the world of football and understand the role that suits me. But we have plenty of time to understand which path undertake”.
