Despite the fact that Feyenoord did not win against Lazio, Dutch pride in the Champions League was upheld by PSV, which won 1-0 at home against RC Lens. Maarten Wijffels sees an important difference in the billion dollar ball between the two teams that have a chance of wintering.
“What a battle this match was against Lens. Compelling in a completely different way than Feyenoord’s meeting with Lazio a day earlier,” said Wijffels in the Algemeen Dagblad.
“In this Champions League it is nice to see the two Dutch participants in action one day after the other. One receives compliments every match for his good football, again in Rome. The other does not always reach that high level of play, but rises to the top for the time being on the basis of partly other weapons.”
