Preparing for Success: Latvian U-16 Three-on-Three Hockey Team Trains on Original Size Fields for Youth Olympics

Under the leadership of Laura Dārziņa, the Latvian U-16 three-on-three hockey team has held its first lessons on the original size fields.

At the end of the past week, the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) installed the new edges of the field in the Daugava Ice Hall, which will further help prepare our national team for the World Youth Olympics, which will take place in South Korea in mid-January.

Three-on-three hockey at the Youth Olympics will be played in one zone, the size of which is 30 meters long and 22 meters wide.

“In order to properly prepare for the Youth Olympics, we have purchased specialized hockey rims for three-on-three hockey. We are sure that this inventory will be very useful for our hockey players, as well as serve for the future development of the hockey game. I wish good luck to the Latvian U-16 three-on-three national team in preparing for the important tournament,” said LHF General Secretary Roberts Plūjejs.

The Youth Winter Olympics hockey tournament in the 3-on-3 format will take place from January 18 to 25. 11 outfield players and two goalkeepers will be allowed to apply for the 3 vs. 3 Youth Olympics.

Dārziņas will be assisted by former Latvian national team forward Jānis Sprukts, who has played 165 games (34+56) in the ranks of the Latvian 3-on-3 hockey national team.

The opponents of the team led by Laura Dārziņa in the Youth Winter Olympics will be the national teams of Denmark, Austria, Poland, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, Spain and Taiwan.
