Premier League in England: Tottenham loses, Arsenal wins

In the English Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur, a football club plagued by failures, missed out on reaching the top of the table and suffered a bitter away defeat. The “Spurs”, who were missing several regular players due to injuries and red card suspensions, lost 1:2 (1:0) at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday after conceding two late goals. Shortly afterwards they were overtaken by local rivals Arsenal FC, who beat Burnley FC 3-1 (1-0). Manchester United shuddered to a 1-0 (0-0) draw against newly promoted Luton Town.

Pablo Sarabia (90+1) and Mario Lemina (90+7) scored in stoppage time to give Wolverhampton a home win. Brennan Johnson had previously scored in the third minute to give the guests from London the lead, who have scored at least one goal in all twelve Premier League games this season.

The Wolves with former Hamburg and Leipzig player Hee-chan Hwang then increasingly took the initiative, but missed numerous good chances. Shortly after Heung-Min Son gave Spurs a possible decision, Sarabia scored a deserved equalizer before Lemina turned the game on its head.

Home win for Arsenal

A week earlier, Tottenham had suffered their first defeat of the season (1:4) against Chelsea FC and had been very unlucky. James Maddison and former Wolfsburg player Micky van de Ven were injured in the game and are expected to be out for the rest of the year. In addition, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were sent off with red and yellow-red respectively, which is why they were also missing in Wolverhampton.

Arsenal won at home thanks to goals from Leandro Trossard (45th+1), William Saliba (57th) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (74th). The team with German international Kai Havertz in the starting line-up drew level on points with leaders and defending champions Manchester City, who will play at Chelsea on Sunday (5.30 p.m. on Sky). Josh Brownhill scored the interim equalizer for Burnley (54th). The “Gunners” ended the game outnumbered after a red card for Fabio Vieira (83rd).

At struggling record champions Manchester United, Victor Lindelöf (59th) took a little pressure off coach Erik ten Hag with his goal. The coach has recently been criticized for fluctuating results. In the Champions League, the Red Devils are last in Group A after just one win and three defeats, which is led by FC Bayern, who have already qualified for the round of 16
